I saw an old friend today.
Vi um velho amigo hoje.
We hadn't talked in five years.
Não nos falávamos há cinco anos.
He looked older, but his smile was the same.
Ele parecia mais velho, mas o sorriso era o mesmo.
We sat down and ordered coffee.
Sentamos e pedimos café.
At first, the talk was about small things.
No começo, a conversa era sobre coisas pequenas.
Work, new places, who got married.
Trabalho, lugares novos, quem casou.
Then we remembered a funny trip together.
Depois lembramos de uma viagem engraçada juntos.
We laughed like we were still young.
Rimos como se ainda fôssemos jovens.
But something felt different.
Mas algo parecia diferente.
We are not the same people.
Não somos as mesmas pessoas.
The gap of years is real.
A lacuna dos anos é real.
Yet, I felt a warm thread between us.
Ainda assim, senti um fio quente entre nós.
