I had a talk with a parent yesterday.
어제 학부모와 이야기했어요.
I wanted to share both the good and the tricky parts.
좋은 점과 어려운 점을 모두 나누고 싶었어요.
The child is doing well in math.
아이는 수학을 잘하고 있어요.
But he often forgets his homework.
하지만 숙제를 자주 잊어요.
I said, 'He has great ideas in class.'
'수업 중에 아이디어가 좋아요'라고 말했어요.
Then I added, 'At home, it might help to check his bag.'
그리고 '집에서 가방을 확인해 주시면 도움이 될 거예요'라고 덧붙였어요.
The parent looked a bit worried.
부모님이 조금 걱정하셨어요.
So I said, 'We are on the same team here.'
그래서 '우리는 같은 편이에요'라고 말했어요.
That made her smile a little.
그 말에 그분이 살짝 웃었어요.
I felt we built trust.
신뢰가 생긴 것 같았어요.
Honesty is hard, but it works.
솔직함은 어렵지만 효과적이에요.
I am glad I spoke kindly.
부드럽게 말해서 다행이에요.
