I remember the first time I spoke English to a stranger.
Recuerdo la primera vez que hablé inglés con un desconocido.
It was at a small coffee shop near my house.
Fue en una pequeña cafetería cerca de mi casa.
My hands were shaking when I ordered.
Mis manos temblaban cuando pedí.
The barista smiled and said something I didn't catch.
El barista sonrió y dijo algo que no entendí.
I felt my face turn red.
Sentí que mi cara se ponía roja.
But I took a deep breath and said, 'Sorry, can you repeat that?'
Pero respiré hondo y dije: 'Disculpa, ¿puedes repetirlo?'
He repeated slowly, and I understood.
Lo repitió despacio y lo entendí.
That small win felt huge.
Esa pequeña victoria se sintió enorme.
I realized then that mistakes are okay.
Entonces me di cuenta de que los errores están bien.
They are part of learning.
Son parte del aprendizaje.
Now I talk to strangers all the time.
Ahora hablo con desconocidos todo el tiempo.
Each conversation makes me braver.
