I remember an afternoon last spring.
A friend poured tea for me.
She did not look at her phone.
Her eyes stayed on my face.
I talked about my messy job.
She nodded and said nothing.
Her listening felt like a warm blanket.
I did not need advice.
I needed someone to just be there.
That cup of tea became a small ceremony.
We shared space without rushing.
Now I try to listen like her.
