Common questions

How does pronunciation scoring work?

You read a lesson aloud and we record your voice (only while the record button is held). Our server analyzes accuracy, fluency, pronunciation, and pace. A score appears within about 5 seconds. You can keep, replay, or delete every recording you make.

Can I use Spikdi offline?

Lessons you've saved are available offline. You can also record yourself reading them. Pronunciation scoring and AI lesson generation require an internet connection.

Is it free?

Yes, fully free at launch. If we add paid features later (e.g., unlimited AI generation), we will announce it in the app and never silently start charging.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Account → Delete account. Confirm. Done. Your data is removed within 30 days.

My recording sounds bad — what went wrong?

  • Make sure you allowed microphone access (iOS Settings → Spikdi → Microphone)
  • Hold the phone 15–20 cm from your mouth, not against it
  • Try a quieter room — wind, fans, and air-con confuse the scorer
  • If you have a Bluetooth headset, try without it; some headsets reduce input quality

The AI lesson generator is taking forever

Generation takes 2–3 minutes (we generate text + image + ambient music in sequence). If it's been over 10 minutes, retry. If retry fails, email us with your username and the prompt — we'll look at the logs.

Can I report a lesson?

Yes — tap the three-dot menu on any lesson, then Report. We moderate within 24 hours. Repeat offenders get their accounts suspended.

Can I get a refund?

There's nothing paid yet. If we add purchases later, refunds go through Apple App Store / Google Play in the usual way.

What languages does the app teach?

Right now, only English for Vietnamese speakers — every lesson is bilingual EN + VN. We may add more language pairs later; sign up for our newsletter if you'd like to vote on which pairs come next.

Is my data safe?

We use HTTPS everywhere, hash passwords, and store recordings privately on Cloudflare R2. We never sell data. See our privacy policy for the full breakdown.

We don't have a fancy status page yet. For service incidents, follow @spikdi_app on X/Twitter. If the app is down, that's where we'll say so first.
